Hazel McKibbin is an award-winning British-American writer, director and editor. She is a BAFTA Newcomer and received a Princess Grace Award for emerging talent. She holds an MFA in Screenwriting and Directing from Columbia University.
Hazel’s directorial debut Doublespeak premiered at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival and her second short She Always Wins premiered at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival. She is currently in development on her debut feature, an expansion of her short work.
With over a decade of editorial experience informing her vision, Hazel finds herself drawn towards realism, often through a feminist lens, and the idea that compelling stories can be created from ordinary relationships and interactions. Her feature editing debut Ephemera premieres at the 2026 Tribeca Film Festival. Commercial clients include Prada, Louis Vuitton, Goldman Sachs, Ralph Lauren, Nike, Clé de Peau Beauté and Gap.
Alongside her filmmaking practice, Hazel works as a script consultant and teaches at Columbia University, the New York Film Academy, and Sundance Collab.
